VE.KI.FA The Association for Children of Djangoa
The VE.KI.FA stands for Vehivavy Kintan'ny Fampandrosoana , it means Stars Women for Development.
It 's a young association of public benefit non-profit organization, founded in Madagascar at the initiative of a group of women from the rural community of Djangoa that, conscious of their social unease, are working effectively in the promotion of the projects' education, training, health education and job placement.
Since September 2008 the Association has opened a nursery named "Mamiko": two structures of wood and local materials. Currently 55 children are enrolled, followed by two teachers and an assistant. A
Djangoa there is also a public elementary school, but classes are overcrowded by an unreasonable number of children is often 80 to 100 students per teacher.
The overcrowding creates the invisibility of many children in school and often go away without teachers noticing causing distrust of formal education for the parents that the child feel responsible for a crime.
The "Mamiko" is proposed to provide support to the operation of the nursery "Mamiko" already exists and create a new structure for the elementary school in three years. Children are thus a place of care, socialization and training to develop their potential cognitive, emotional and social support for families with particular attention to one-parent families and facilitating women's access to employment and promoting the reconciliation of work activities and education of children.
